Workshop: “Digital Storytelling 4.0 – Sustainable and human digitalisation in museums > from questions to answer”

Description of the session The hypothesis: Operating systems are the next big thing in the digitalisation of museums. These systems will combine database, IoT hardware and smart communication between exhibits and visitors.

The session will start by collecting a series of questions and initial statements. Based on this input we will demonstrate technologies and solutions in theory and practice. Together we will analyse opportunities to connect all core processes in the museum with the full focus on increased visitor experience. The outcome is individual answers for your next years in regards to digitalisation. Background: MusOS has been designed to provide guests with exceptional and individual experiences. Exhibits will interact with visitors directly via augmented reality, sound and light effects, video messages, information screens and puzzles. MusOS will be used for the first time in the FFA museum, which will open in July 2019. However, technology has been universally developed.

Thus, it has the potential to feel tailor-made when adapted for use by other museums. Moreover, the aim was to improve infotainment for guests, increase the quality of research and obtain a higher rate of returning visitors. This novel concept for the museum world is expected to deliver. Furthermore, the system is so flexible it allows customisation, the addition of new stories and changes to the exhibits without having to touch the basic hardware and infrastructure.
